The 7 best home renovation blogs...

I was contacted by Rebecca Thienes from www.glo.msn.com asking if they could use some images from the house, which I agreed to...Not - really thinking anything more about it until I saw the article.

( Did I just read that right!!! YOU SAY WHAT??? )

I just wanted to say THANK YOU to Rebecca and everyone at www.glo.msn.com

I normally HATE surprises...BUT - this is one of a few that have turned out to be VERY nice!

Never did I think that such things would/could happen when I started this blog, which was stared for our own personal use for something to look back onto when/if we EVER finish the renovation work!

Bedroom 2...

We decided to collect the mirrors for the en-suite ourselves instead of having them delivered as originally planned...

Only because I wanted to visit a neighbouring store as they sell some gardening stuff and as I'm now on a mission to find pots LARGE enough for my Fiddle leaf fig trees, it seemed like a good idea.

And - can you believe it!!! We drove all that way and I came away empty handed.

Thats the 1st time I've walked outa that store without a bag or 2!

Anyway - Ikea is also just around the corner and we had 45mins to get around there before it closed to sniff out some pots!

( I could score bath salts quicker than all of this SHIZ!!! )

Ikea...is like landing on the moon for me, one giant leap!

I HATE it! It makes me proper CRAY.

SO - We side track the showroom and bum rush the so called market area!

Where I find hanging from the celling...a black and white patterned rug, SO - I'm reading the swing ticket, its 200cm by 200cm its located on shelve 85 and it's ONLY £55!!!

We pick up the rug form shelve 85 and head to the gardening section...And - NO POTS BIG ENOUGH!!! AAAaaaRRRrrrGGGGggggHHhhhh....when will this all end?

Martin has just finished hanging the mirrors, SO - I though it a good idea to unwrap the rug, roll out and let it breath!

AND - to my surprise!

The black and white square rug with the brightly coloured boarder that I thought we purchased...

Turns out to be JUST black and white, rectangular in shape and twice the size!

SOMEBODY SHOOT ME!

I didn't even want the rug...I got sucked in by its cheapness!

The joy that is shopping at IKEA.

Anyway - Adding the mirrors and the rug to the en-suite have made me realise that I do need to add texture to the wall behind the basins and pattern to the floor.

Just when you think your moving in the right direction, BAM!!! 2 more things you need to add to your  todo list!

Master + En - suite...

So - I've also been thinking about adding tiles to the wall behide the bed.

I'm thinking of tile's from the top of skirting board and up to the bottom of the picture rail.

+ from the wall behide the basins in the en-suite across to the wall behide the bed in the bedroom.

Lighting above bed -  same as the visual ref below...

I'm having a wobble about wall lights in the en-suite.

I LOVE these wall lights from www.trainspotters.co.uk

BUT -  there size is staring to worry me! They measure 160cm in length.

+ A decision made! I've made my mind up...and want to use flat white metro tiles with a dark grey grout.

En-suite

So - I'm looking at tile options for the en-suite...

I like this ( option A ) flat white tile.

And - this ( option B ) beveled edge tile.

Tiles will be going up onto the wall behide the basins.

BUT - which option should I go for?

I'm also thinking that I want plain frameless mirrors, as in the image above?

Mirrors will be cut to size, same width as the basin? And - the same length as the wall lights below?

These are the wall lights I LOVE!

I'm thinking 2 for each basin? one on either side of the mirror? They measure 160cm in length! Which means they will fill the space in from the top of the basin to the picture rail above.

As the tiles are cold and hard in the way they look and feel and the wall lights are industrial in design, I'm also thinking that I may need to soften/add texture with ornate cornicing - picture below?

En - suite...

Even more glass jars...Just need stuff to fill them!

Glass bottles and wooden inlay boxes form Capri.

I'm now thinking that I want to tile the wall behide the basins?

White tiles with black grouting?
